Student Rules and Procedures

I have read and understand the rules and procedures I am expected to observe while in Mr. Tonk’s class.  It is my choice to follow these rules or to engage in behavior that violates them.  I understand that my actions are a direct result of my choices; therefore I have chosen any consequences I may receive.  Infractions will be dealt with on an individual basis and the assignment of possible consequences depends on my own attitude and behavior.  Consequences will be consistent with those dictated by the Student Handbook.  I understand that all expectations laid out in the Student Handbook, including dress code, will be observed in this classroom.

RULES

I will not engage in any behavior that could disrupt my own learning or the learning of others.

This includes (but is not limited to): communicating when you are not supposed to be communicating, off-task communication in any form during a class activity, plagiarizing (passing off the work of others as my own work, inappropriately using the work of others as over 30% of my own work, even if it is cited), enabling others to plagiarize or copy, any behavior that is distracting to others or myself, refusing to engage in a class activity, any behavior that prevents others or myself from engaging in a class activity, sleeping, etc.

I will not disrespect myself by engaging in any behavior that is disrespectful of others.

This includes (but is not limited to): ordinary comments with a disrespectful tone, communicating while the focus is on Mr. Tonk or another student, any behavior that indicates disrespect of my fellow students or my teacher, arguing in class regarding Mr. Tonk’s decisions, theft, entering Mr. Tonk’s work area without permission, damaging anything that does not belong to me, opening drawers or cabinets without permission, etc.

I will not disrespect my learning environment.

This includes (but is not limited to): creating and leaving a mess, not putting class copies of textbooks away or merely tossing them on the shelf, tampering with anything that belongs to Mr. Tonk or CHS, off-task misuse of the computers, writing on walls or furniture, etc.

Mr. Tonk reserves the right to discipline students for any other reason at any time for anything that he deems to be disruptive of the learning environment or disrespectful.

I have read all of the rules and procedures for Mr. Tonk’s classroom, and I understand that there will be appropriate consequences for each violation of the rules.  I also understand that I am old enough to understand and follow these rules, and that there may be no warning before I receive a consequence.  I will treat myself, Mr. Tonk, my peers and my learning environment with the respect they deserve.  I understand that if I disagree with any decisions Mr. Tonk makes regarding these standards of conduct, I am free to discuss it with him before school, during lunch, or after school.
