TEMPORARILY INCORRECT. CHECK BACK LATER FOR CORRECT PODCAST FEEDS.

For those of you who don't know, I often record video or audio of classroom activities and post them online as downloadable podcasts, taking care to avoid
violating the privacy of the students in my classroom. A podcast is a file, either audio or video, that is posted online as part of what is called an RSS feed, which is simply a list of all available podcasts from any given website. When you "subscribe" to a podcast, your computer "reads" the RSS file once per day and automatically downloads the most recently available podcast. What this means is that, for each of my classes, there is a feed with course-specific audio & video files, as well as handouts, that will provide you with up-to-date classroom media every time it is posted, and you don't have to do a thing. You can access these podcasts in one of three ways.

A. iTunes.
Recommended. This application will detect new podcasts on MrTonk.com and download them to your computer automatically. You can use the steps outlined here or simply select the "Advanced" menu, and click on "Subscribe to Podcast". Type or copy and paste the podcast web address for your class, indicated in the "B. Another Podcast Receiver Application" instructions below.

Please note: the iTunes podcast directory currently (as of 6/2/07) does not have the correct address of my podcasts. Use the method outlined above to subscribe using iTunes instead.
1. Download and install
iTunes from Apple (PC or Mac).
2. On the left-hand side of iTunes, click on "Music Store".
3. Find the "Search iTunes Store" box.
4. Type in "Tonk" or "Cienega".
5. Select the general classroom podcasts or the podcast link for your class (Senior English, AP English).
6. Click on "subscribe" and iTunes will automatically subscribe to the podcast stream. It will give you a list of available podcasts and automatically download the most recent one once per day.

B. Another Podcast Receiver Application
If you are already using something else to download podcasts, you know how to use your application better than I do. Here are the RSS XML feeds for your app:

General Classroom Podcasts:
http://www.mrtonk.com/index_files/mrtonk.xml

Senior English Podcasts:
http://www.mrtonk.com/english12/english12_files/english12podcasts.xml

AP English Literature & Composition Podcasts
http://www.mrtonk.com/aplit_files/appodcasts.xml

C. Listen to them directly online.
This option is not as reliable, because I don't always provide a link to the podcast and you have to download it manually. However, I generally do provide a link if I take the trouble to post something.

Students' faces, bodies, and names are NEVER, ever posted or alluded to online.

Please don't drop my class. I know this is annoying. :-)
